Digitization: How to procure an ECM/DMS solution?

Digitization demands a shift from analog to digital primacy. What do we mean by this? The aim is to optimize data management and eliminate analog carriers as far as possible, or to convert analog data into digital data. At the same time, the aim is to enable data storage to be controlled and, above all, for the vast amounts of superfluous data to disappear over time.

Digitization starts with electronic data storage. Alongside ERP systems, ECM/DMS solutions are therefore an important and decisive building block for success. However, ECM/DMS products are often procured like “normal” software without understanding that their introduction has far-reaching consequences. This article by Bruno Wildhaber describes the right approach to procurement and the success factors for a successful implementation.
