More and more companies are facing various challenges when dealing with data: From the question of where to (re)find information, to regulatory requirements, to the question of how to organize it all so that there is still a little time left for the core business. In this situation, information governance generally helps – but where do you start and do you need consultancy or is there also assistance where you can first read up on yourself? The “Information Governance Guide” aims to do precisely the latter – and it succeeds well. Numerous experts contribute from the field, with an emphasis on practicality. Topics covered range from data overload as a starting point, to the “definition” of information governance, to methods and retention requirements, and special topic areas such as e-discovery. Another section provides numerous practical examples from various industries. The significant advantage of the guide is its practical orientation (how do I get “information governance” into people’s heads? checklists, etc.); the main shortcoming for me as a person working in a German company is that the focus is clearly on Switzerland. But even then, there is still a lot you can use in your daily work to build an efficient management of information.

The event was characterized by many questions and an interesting exchange of views. The time flew by and there was further lively discussion at the subsequent reception. An information governance guide was drawn from among the participants at the end. I can only recommend the krm event and am already looking forward to the next one.
