The healthcare sector is not considered a pioneer in information governance or digitalization. The electronic patient record is one of the federal government’s projects that never made it out of the trial phase. The number of users is modest and the functionality marginal, and acceptance among service providers and patients is very low.

In its “Expedition”, the Swiss Health Data Space (GDS ) found that without fundamental changes to information governance, digitalization in the healthcare sector will remain a pipe dream. In addition, the person, who should be at the center, is systematically marginalized or not included in the considerations. GDS has therefore adopted the position of the patient: We want to tell the system (under the direction of the FOPH) what we need, not vice versa! We are the customers and payers and want to have our say. This is only possible with control over our own data!

Anyone who wants to view or manage their health data today encounters scattered information, complex processes and a lack of transparency. The new app data2u.ch is a simple, legally compliant solution for anyone who wants to use their medical information in a self-determined way.

The focus is on the right to informationAccording to the Data Protection Act Art. 25 citizens have the right to receive their health and insurance data within 30 daysin a format of their choice, to receive. The app supports this process with Pre-prepared, legally compliant requestswhich can be sent directly to doctors, hospitals or health insurance companies. They are given simple options for sending the documents (by secure e-mail connection or via a secure upload link). This turns the often complex data request into a simple, digital process.

Once the data has been received, the app does more than just filingAll information is collected in a repository, automatically provided with consistent metadata metadata (in accordance with the EPD standard)and grouped according to medical events – both in the form of both compliant with the electronic patient dossier (EPD) naccording to the specifications of eHealth Suiss as well as extended data categories.

In future, it will also be possible to upload documents directly to the EPD – including the complete metadata. This will eliminate the hours of post-processing that are often required today. Even vaccination certificates or laboratory reports become be can be used as structured, standardized information for medical consultations, hospital admissions or pension planning.
